Service Description

Teens practice managing their belongings, following safety procedures, communicating with the group, and participating fully without depending on a parent or phone for constant direction. Exploring a new marine environment gives them real practice making decisions, adapting, and taking responsibility for themselves. A structured marine-science adventure for teens ages 12–16 in partnership with The Reef Institute. Participants will take the ferry to Peanut Island and explore ocean conservation through guided snorkeling, coral and fish identification and hands-on learning activities. Trips are scheduled around the tides to provide the best possible snorkeling conditions. Skills practiced: Initiative • Decision-making • Personal responsibility • Confidence What parents are investing in: A teen who can manage belongings, follow safety expectations, make age-appropriate decisions and participate fully without waiting for an adult to direct every step. Teens will remain with the small group and be supervised by The Reef Institute educators and the Unplugged Outdoor Co. team. Participants must be comfortable in the water, use the buddy system and follow all snorkeling and safety instructions. The snorkeling portion is subject to weather, water and tide conditions. Final instructions regarding swimwear, footwear, equipment, lunch and the meeting location will be emailed to enrolled families.
