Service Description

Professors and admissions officers reward genuine curiosity — the student who asks real questions and engages, not the one who waits to be told. A morning with a naturalist rebuilds the active, questioning habits that phones have quietly dulled. This is structured, ranger-led educational adventure in Big Cypress National Preserve for teens ages 12–16. Participants will walk through the cypress swamp while learning about water, wildlife, plant life and conservation through direct observation. Skills practiced: Observation • Critical thinking • Curiosity • Thoughtful questioning What parents are investing in: A teen who looks beyond the obvious, asks stronger questions and connects real-world experiences to ideas learned in school instead of simply memorizing information. The group will follow the park ranger’s route and safety instructions at all times. Teens will remain with the small group and be closely supervised by the Unplugged Outdoor Co. team using regular head counts and the buddy system. Conditions and water levels vary. Families will receive final instructions about required footwear, clothing, weather and what to bring before the trip.
